Replacing the fuel lines in the wings.

This method was given by Carl Parkinsonon Rans/Yahoo group as to how he changed his
wing tank fuel pipes. It is included here as a reminder to me for when I need to do it every 5 years :-)

I had to change my entire fuel tubing due to cracks appearing in them and I found the only
way to access the tubing within the wings is the following:
1. Leave the wings rigged.
2. Remove the while plastic blanking panel that Velcros on the under side of the wing
between the wing and just above the cockpit door.
3. Drill out all the rivets on the thin aluminium blanking plate at the wing root (if fitted).
4. Mark where the wing tensioners are set to. These are at just accessible towards the
leading edge and the trailing edge.
5. Use a 1/4″ socket set to release the tension on the skins far enough so you can get
access to the point where the tube connects to the tank. You can’t release the skins back
far enough to get clear access.
6. Replace the tubing as required and use the appropriate size Jubilee clips oriented in such
a way as to give you access to the screw head but to keep it from fouling on the skin when
re-tightened.
7. Re-tension the skins using the 1/4″ socket set, being careful to only tighten them to the
point they were at before.
8. Replace the plastic blanking panel.
9. Get you fellow syndicate members to make you a nice cup of tea or something stronger.
All in all I replaced my entire fuel system in a day.
